Service Description

This is a learn to sweep rowing for all middle school and high school athletes that want to try out rowing for the first time or novices to improve their rowing. This course will include both on-land and on-water activities during 3 - 2 hours sessions. Key elements of the program include the following. This starts on Thursday, May 30, 2024. • Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 4 pm - 6 pm at the Palm Coast Community Center for on-land training • Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 7:30 am, first on the water class at Palm Harbor Golf boatyard • Monday, June 3, 2024 at 4:00 pm at the Palm Harbor rowing boatyard. Wednesday, June 5, 2024, 4:00 pm, at boatyard. Key elements of the LTR. (1) FUNdamentals of rowing with terminology and principals (2) Land program with video teaching and rowing machine training to learn mechanics (3) User’s manual (4) FUNdamentals of the rowing stroke (5) Rowing and boat safety (6) On water technique and practice as a crew – with coach teaching from a coach boat (7) Base to be ready to integrate into Junior rowing program with other youth (8) Let's make sure to have fun Bring to the first session training 1. wear athletic shorts and shirts that are tighter fitting to the body. Loose clothing in a rowing boat can cause a hand or finger to catch the loose fabric during the rowing stroke. 2. Wear athletic shoes like running shoes. Water shoes, boats are launched by stepping in the water 4. You will need to sign a PCRC Risk Acknowledgement Waiver before you can start the class. Form attached to the course link. The price ($130) of this program provides One Month (first month, $50 value) of a PCRC Junior Membership FREE when signing-up for a new membership within 6-months of completing this this LTR program. All youth participants of this class will receive a free PCRC T-shirt You will come away at the end of the class having a good appreciation for the sweep rowing stroke and how to row as a team with others in a boat. This will allow all participants to integrate to the PCRC Junior member rowing activities where additional coaching and teaching takes place including learning to scull.
